Our Community

Our PS 99 community is a diverse and close-knit school of students with active parents and stable leadership, as well as, a diverse neighborhood community. At PS 99 we strive to create an inclusive and supportive community. We celebrate the differences in our students and their unique talents. We strive to promote respect for each other and for the environment.

Some activities our school uses to promote community include Culture Share Week, school spirit days, Studio in a School workshops, the Arts Festival, Student of the Month Assemblies, holiday concerts, parent workshops and special events. Our students give back to their community by going to visit the Kew Gardens Community Center, where they spend time with the seniors. The students sing carols, do arts and crafts and spend time listening to the stories they have to share.

Each year, our students experience a true sense of purpose and global community service by holding a plastic bottle drive to raise funds to donate to the Conservation Society to save an endangered animal. Additionally the school has created a National Wildlife Federation Certified Pollinator Garden to give a home to native wildlife.
